Houston's 186th Birthday Celebration

Happy Birthday, Houston! The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park and Mister McKinney of Mister McKinney’s Historic Houston celebrates Houston’s 186th Birthday on Saturday, August 27, 2022, with free activities from 3-6 p.m. Mayor Sylvester Turner will be by to cut the cake around 4:30 p.m. (The actual birthday for Houston is August 30, 1836, but the celebration will take place Aug. 27 this year.) 

The Heritage Society is offering private tours of three houses with cupcakes, wine spritzers, or other beverages. Mister McKinney is offering downtown Houston bus tours. Two, free, docent-led historic house tours of the Nichols-Rice-Cherry House and Old Place are available. A book-signing event for Oldest Houston! will take place. Peruse Houston-themed gifts at The Heritage Society's museum gallery.
