Honor the rich heritage, achievements, and contributions of African Americans during Children's Museum Houston's Black History Month celebration. Funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. 

Come celebrate the African American spirit by participating in exciting activities, exploring African cultures and traditions, learning about significant periods in history and engaging in stories about courage, survival, and resilience.

Special Events: 

  • ‍The Griot Speaks sponsored by Phillips 66: Step into the enchanting world of "The Griot Speaks," where ancient African tales come alive in a mesmerizing, interactive experience reminiscent of the captivating storytelling traditions of African griots. 11 a.m. in Brown Auditorium. 
  • Rhyme and Reason - A Celebration of Black History by Express Children's Theatre: Embark on a thrilling odyssey through time as music, dance, and performance poetry converge to present the dynamic tapestry of Black History from ancient Africa to the present day! 12 p.m. in Brown Auditorium. 
  • ‍King Rhythm: Get ready for an electrifying journey through the vibrant tapestry of African American history as soprano/storyteller Hope Shiver and percussionist David Keepman invite you to buckle up for a sensational ride through the soul-stirring landscape of popular music styles. 3 p.m. in Kid's Hall Alcove.
