Courage in action

Terri Burke, Rosie Valadez McStay, Dr. Robert Hilliard, Susan Feigin Harris, Dr. John Dugan and Carter Dugan joined other healthcare advocates at The Immunization Partnership’s (TIP) Courage in Action luncheon. Event co-chairs Harris and McStay coordinated the event that raised nearly $225,000 for the statewide disease-prevention organization. Terri Burke, TIP executive director, presented awards to Dr. Marc L. Boom, president and chief executive officer of Houston Methodist, Drs. Peter J. Hotez and Maria Elena Bottazzi, co-directors of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development, and Legacy Community Health’s Dr. Hilliard. Writer Marie Brenner, author of The Desperate Hours: One Hospital’s Fight to Save a City on the Pandemic Front Lines, shared stories about how staff at one New York City hospital addressed the pandemic.
