Where were you on Sept. 11, 2001? History, for those old enough to remember, was divided into “before” and “after” the tragedy. Sept. 11, 2021, marked 20 years since the devastating attacks. In commemoration, The Lone Star Flight Museum is presenting a new exhibit, Never Forget: Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, honoring the 2,977 people killed in the terrorist attacks, including first responders. Their names cover the gallery walls. An 11-foot section of a World Trade Center I-Beam is displayed, on loan from the City of Bellaire. The beam was donated by the Rubenstein Family Foundation to the City of Bellaire. Bellaire Mayor Andrew Friedberg (pictured, with museum president and CEO Lt. Gen. Doug Owens) gave remarks in a special ceremony. The museum is offering programs, including tours of the National 9/11 Museum & Memorial and an inspiring talk by Houstonian Billy Forney, a 9/11 survivor. The exhibit runs through Jan. 3.
