Author Amy Dong recently published Twenty-One Years Young, a collection of personal essays about the uncertainty, absurdity and beauty of growing up. The book explores subjects such as recovering from a near-death experience, debating politics at the dinner table, the value of rejection and the significance of traveling alone. As part of her journey to publish Twenty-One Years Young, she donated part of her pre-order funds to the Greater Houston Covid-19 Recovery Fund and the Houston Food Bank for local Covid-19 relief. Readers can find the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ingram and Kobo. Amy (pictured here in front of the Bellaire Fire Department) grew up in Bellaire and attended T. H. Rogers and St. John’s School before studying economics and sustainable business at New York University, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class. Currently, she’s teaching English in Taiwan as a Fulbright Scholar.
