Ovarcome gala

Ovarcome gala

More than 300 supporters of the ovarian-cancer non-profit Ovarcome, including board members (pictured, from left) Mike Beck, Dr. Aparna Kamat, Betty White, Runsi Sen, Dr. Priya Bhosale, Linda Ibrahim, Juuhi Ahuja and Rob Heifner, attended the annual gala UnMasque at The St. Regis to celebrate survivors. Musician and teen Caly Bevier received the 2018 Ovarcome Excellence Award. In a memorable moment, Caly invited all survivors in the room to join her on stage as she sang Rachel Platten’s Fight Song. Caly had felt a growing lump in her stomach area for nearly a year, but it wasn’t until she was in a bathing suit around family that her parents noticed just how big of problem the lump had become. They immediately brought her in to be examined. In the summer of 2015, at age 15, Caly was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. After treatment including chemotherapy, Caly is now in remission.
