The Houston Juniors 14 Premier volleyball team (pictured) wrapped up a successful Mid East qualifier tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their next stop on the tournament circuit was the Lone Star qualifier, where they earned a spot to compete at Junior Nationals this month in Detroit, Michigan. Only about the top 5 percent of teams in the country qualify for this post-season tournament. After a busy competition season, the girls will enjoy the summer and then head off to high school. The players are (pictured, from left) Thais Quintero, Caroline Howell, Mia Blum, Anna Ertischeck, Kaia Halfmann, Sierra Calles, Kayleigh Schultea, Jocelyn Escoffrey, Lexi Visintine, Samantha Cousins, Li Bahler and Dominique Griffin.

Editor’s note: Send your best high-resolution photos and behind-the-scenes stories about young local athletes, in both team and individual sports, to SportzBuzz, Jr. at [email protected].
