Dick Hunt was in college at Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy in Rolla, Missouri, when he met Shirley Tacke on a blind date. After they married he loaded up his 1944 vintage car and they drove to West Texas where he worked in the oil patch. They moved 17 times over the years, settling in Bunker Hill in 1966, but live in Carbondale, Colorado, now. Daughter Val Hunt Lankford and Jim Neikirk joined them at The Little Nell in Aspen to celebrate the Hunts’ “happily married” for 65 years. As though the celebration weren’t enough, Jim dropped to his knee after dinner and proposed to Val. Big things happen at The Little Nell.
