Each year in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, St. Francis Episcopal Church holds a Blessing of the Pets. Pet lovers and their animals are welcome Oct. 4 to stand by the statue of St. Francis in the south courtyard to receive a blessing from the Rev. Bob Wismer and the Rev. Stuart Bates for protection. Lizards, snakes, fish, birds, hedgehogs and guinea pigs have heard these prayers too. Dr. Benjamin Tharp from Voss Road Animal Clinic will offer advice and answer questions. Committee volunteers are Bob and Kay Forker, Mary and John Kenner, and Steve and Nancy Shomette.
